Saige and Jake’s Red Rock Canyon, California engagement session was a boho dream. There is truly nothing better than working with a couple that is so in love. When Saige decided on Red Rock Canyon as the location for their photos, she mentioned that it was the perfect representation of them as a couple – free-spirited and laidback. 

As a central California photographer, I love the diversity that CA offers. Capturing this chapter in Saige and Jake’s love story was such an honor; especially doing so at a place so near-and-dear to my heart. There is just something about shooting in the desert… (iykyk). Leading up to this engagement session, the weather had initially called for overcast skies – which is honestly ideal. But when the day finally arrived, we were basking in the full sun and blue skies. Shooting in “harsh” lighting can be a challenge, but I am obsessed with the way these photos turned out. 

Saige and Jake are the definition of yin and yang. Saige emits the sweetest, fairy-esque vibes; Jake is as steady as a rock and full of so much love for his beautiful fiancé. We had such a fun time frolicking around the park, climbing rocks, and taking some artsy shots. Because of the full sun, the images that I captured were exactly the vintage, Earthy-vibe that Saige had been envisioning. When we wrapped up in the desert, we decided to take a quick, impromptu trip to Tehachapi to play in some snow. Jake had actually never seen the snow, so it was almost a requirement that we got some shots of them having a snowball fight. Their session might’ve set a new standard for how all shoots should end 😉

I couldn’t possibly feel more thankful to have had the opportunity to capture Saige and Jake’s Red Rock Canyon, California engagement session. These photos will have to just hold me over until their wedding this summer!
