When it comes to planning your wedding, there can be a ton of inspiration thrown your way. It can be extremely difficult to nail down what you want to do to make your day special, right? As a full-time wedding and elopement photographer, I feel like I’ve officially seen it all. While I just generally love love, one of my biggest joys when photographing a wedding is when my couples decide to do something a little “non-tradish” if you will. I’m talking about those little things that add personality to your day. Whether it be an element in your details, the meal, or something even more unique, you can’t go wrong! So if you’re ready for some non-traditional ideas for your wedding, look no further babe. 

Non-Traditional Wedding Ideas 

Ideas for the Bride:

• Wear a pantsuit, short dress, or a different color
• Have your mama as your MOH. 
• Let your bridesmaids choose their dresses.
• Have your Grandma be your flower girl. 
• Have your flower girl be your something blue!
• Opt for a bouquet of wildflowers. 

Ideas for the Groom:

• Have your pup be your best man.
• Include a cigar bar during your getting ready portion of the day.
• Go fishin’ the morning of or take a dip in the pool.
• Hire an in-home barber to do a luxury shave/hair cut for you + your guys. 
• Have the groomsmen waiting for you at the alter. Nobody wants to stand alone!
• Four words: retro video game competition. I’m talking N64, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Duck Hunt, Paper Boy. Pro tip: DO NOT make this a drinking kinda game.

Couples Ideas:

• Spend your wedding morning getting ready together.
• Have breakfast with your family and friends before you all get ready.
• Opt for a weekday wedding.
• Opt for a weekend wedding
• Create a custom brand stamp in lieu of a unity ceremony. 
• Plant a tree during your ceremony!
• Instead of a cake cutting, cut a pizza.

• Hire a live painter. 
• Rent taco truck, cater In-N-Out, or have a grill out!
