If you’ve been following along on my journey as a wedding photographer, it’s no secret that I am obsessed with intimate weddings. Whether it’s an elopement or microwedding, intimate weddings just speak to me. Jordyn and I first connected last year on Instagram when she inquired about an engagement session. Flash forward a couple months, I had the honor of capturing her and Matthew’s sweet Sequoia National Forest engagement session among the lush greenery. Less than a year later, I was able to capture their Bakersfield, CA whimsical backyard wedding; I am SO excited to relive this day all over again.
Jordyn and Matthew are one of those couples that just truly radiate so much love for one another. Their intimate wedding ceremony focused on not only the love for one another, but the love of Jesus. I couldn’t picture a more perfect ceremony for Jordyn and Matthew. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. After they were officially announced as Mr. and Mrs., it was time to head out to create some magic at Bolles Nursery just down the road.
Not only is Bolles Nursery my favorite local nursery in Bakersfield, but it made for the perfect backdrop for these lovers. The number of times that I said, “Oh my gosh, this is so good” was off the charts as they were once again surrounded by lush greenery. Jordyn’s bouquet complimented the pops of color in the greenhouse beautifully. There were towering fiddle-leaf figs, endless rows succulents, abundant ferns, and flourishing ivy galore. (It’s safe to say that this plant-lover was in heaven.) When we left the nursery, we found a riverbed on the way back to their backyard party. The riverbed was the prettiest little hidden gem that we stumbled upon. We were able to really capture those funky, vibey photos that first drew Jordyn into my DMs!
Once we made it back to their Bakersfield, CA whimsical backyard wedding, it was time to get the party (or should I say “fiesta”) started! There were endless street tacos, lotssss of margaritas, and so many people breaking it down on the dance floor. I was able to edit some photos while eating dinner – which means that Jordyn and Matthew got a few early sneak peaks. Hearing how thankful they were to have photos that reflected their love warmed my heart to the brim!
Are you ready to make some magic?! I’d love to connect! As always, let’s be friends over on the ‘Gram (@sierrabrookphotography). Until next time, lovebugs.
