I am convinced that there is simply nothing better than adventuring around California with a couple who’s madly in love. I had the time of my life capturing Molly and Jake’s central coast California adventure session. We all are from Bakersfield, so it was such a fun day adventuring from the central valley to the central coast with these lovers.
Molly and I first connected quite awhile ago while shooting some weddings together (she’s a videographer); I love connecting with others in the wedding industry. Having worked together a number of times, we’ve become really great friends – I’m so dang thankful for her friendship. She reached out to me to take some updated photos of her and her hubby, Jake. Believe it or not, this sweet couple didn’t get the chance to have wedding photos done when they tied the knot. Molly and Jake were ready to get some funky, spicy photos done – and I was stoked.
I found our first location to shoot at on Instagram, actually! I found a rad parking garage in San Luis Obispo that I just knew we had to take advantage of. So we took some really vibey photos overlooking the city, with the golden sun shining down on us. Molly and Jake wore wedding attire; the “bride” wearing a short, tulle wedding dress with a veil. Jake wore a classic tuxedo look. When I say I was screaming internally, I mean it. Wow. After we wrapped up on the parking garage roof, we headed down to the streets to get some New York-esque photos of them walking. (But not before they popped back some White Claws 😜) As we walked around, everyone was congratulating them, which they loved. San Luis Obispo also has this really cool 50’s style theater – perfect for Molly and Jake’s vintage attire.
After we finished up downtown, we headed to Morro Bay where they changed into their second outfits. Molly wore a chic satin dress with a dramatic slit; Jake stuck to his classy tuxedo. You guys. I have no words to even describe how incredible they looked frolicking in the sand and splashing in the ocean, while dressed to the nines. I didn’t think I could even love this day anymore, but then Molly and Jake changed into their swimsuits to romp around in the ocean. Despite the freezing cold Pacific, they had no problem diving in the water and rolling in the sand. It was the perfect way to end our day exploring the central coast.
Molly and Jake’s Central Coast California adventure session was truly a dream to have the opportunity to capture. It’s safe to say I’m not done obsessing over these; take this as your warning 😉 Looking for more raw, messy love?
